From July 3–6, 2025, 12 dedicated delegates and one staff member proudly represented the Southeastern Ohio Education Association (SEOEA) at the National Education Association’s (NEA) annual Representative Assembly in Portland, Oregon.

This year’s gathering brought together nearly 7,000 educators from across the United States, uniting under the shared mission of shaping the future of public education. Held July 3–7, the NEA Representative Assembly is the world’s largest democratic deliberative body and serves as the governing voice of America’s largest labor union.

In addition to discussing, debating, and voting on new business items that will guide the NEA’s priorities and policies in the year ahead, delegates also took part in A Day of Teaching, Learning, and Organizing. This special event offered professional development opportunities and organizing strategies focused on strengthening educator voice, fostering community engagement, and mobilizing around key issues impacting public education.

Amid ongoing challenges and growing threats to public education, delegates acknowledged the urgency of the moment. They stood strong in their commitment to building Resilience, exercising collective Power, and fostering Respect for every student and educator, regardless of background or identity.

SEOEA’s presence ensured that the voices of Southeastern Ohio educators were heard as critical decisions were made about the direction of NEA’s advocacy and policy work. Together with their colleagues nationwide, SEOEA delegates reaffirmed their dedication to protecting public schools, uplifting the teaching profession, and advancing equity for all.

We thank our delegates and staff member for their time, leadership, and unwavering dedication to students, educators, and the future of public education.
